Langtang Valley Trek

Namaste! And welcome to Kathmandu, the colourful capital of Nepal where ornately carved balconies mingle with beautiful shrines and temples. Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting on arrival at the exit gate of Kathmandu airport. Our staff will welcome you and pick you to your accommodated hotel. Please seek our company palmplate to find our staff at the main exit gate of the airport. Rest of the day you can relax at the hotel or short evening walk around local market on your own as per your wish.

A well deserved rest day at cosy of hotel after a long tiring flight. This day, one can move around nearby local market to purchase or hire trekking equipment that is necessary for the trekking like sleeping bags, walking sticks etc, exchange currency as requirement or simply walk around in the local market or Kathmandu Durbar squire nearby with small entrance fee as per your preference on your own. Evening at the hotel lobby there will be pre-trip briefing in which you will be introduced with your trekking guide and explained about your trip in short, instruction for safety etc.

Our Guide and Porter come to your hotel at 6:00 am. Then we head north out of Kathmandu to Syabru Besi about a 7/8 hour scenic drive by bus or Land cruiser (depending on group size and agreement). The scenery of foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabrubesi goes through the Trishuli Bazaar, Betrawati and Dhunche. You feel as if you are heading towards deep land. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli River you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. Behind Trisuli Bazaar the road is tricky because of the grubby road. As a first day of trekking, we find ourselves very excited. The first part of the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola and gradually climbs to Bamboo (1960m). Enjoy yourself in the rhododendron and bamboo forests. The variety of wildlife includes yellow-throated martens, wild boars, langur monkeys, red pandas, Wild honey bee hives and Himalayan black bears that all inhabit this forest. Afterwards, your trek ascends gently to Rimche (2400m) through Bamboo which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola with only a few houses. Probably, we will have lunch at this place if you like. And at the end the trail we arrive at the Lama Hotel for an overnight stay.

Today, the trail climbs up towards a steep forest slope to the Langtang River. The trail follows Gumanechok, Ghoda Tabela literally it means the Horse Stable. After this the trail is gradual with beautiful views into the valley of grazing Yaks. After sometime it descends into a valley, the trail crosses a stream and climbs past several water-driven prayer wheels to the large settlement of Langtang. This is one of the oldest villages along this trekking route and the view from here is more spectacular as we get closer to mountain. The rest of the day we walk around village and stay overnight.

The trail leads us through a tiny village with stone-built houses and climbing up to a Chorten and passed a huge mani wall along a gentle path. We have chance to taste cheese and curd made from yak milk, a specialty of this place. This is a short walk but enough for acclimatization. The surroundings are interesting also because of the famous cheese factory. This beautiful valley is in the lap of the Langtang Lirung and others around us. This is a good place to explore the local culture which is similar remarkably similar to Tibetan culture.

Start trip early in the morning to climb Kyangjin Ri (4772m), it takes about one and half hours to two hours get in Top. From where you have a breath-taking 360 degree view of the Langtang II/Ghonge Liru (6,596m), Langtang Lirung/Ghone (7,227m), Changu (6,251m), Kinshung (6,781m), Langtang Yansa (6,048m), Yurba (6,264m), Tserko Peak (5,749m), Yala Peak (5,500m), Langshisa Ri (6,427m), Dorje Lakpa (6,966m), Ganchenpo (6,387m), Dshabu Ri (5,202m), Urkin Kanggri (5,863m) and Naya Kang (5,844m) and the foot of the huge Langtang Lirung Glacier.

Today we backtrack the way towards Rimche village. All the way downhill, you will see fantastic views of towering mountain which you may have missed on the way up.

Today also we retrace the trail all the way to Sybrubesi about 4 to 5 hours. For a change we will follow the so called ‘high’ route back to Syarubesi. This trail splits of the route we took upwards shortly after leaving the Lama Hotel. The route goes to the small village of Syarpagaon, and continues onto Bhanjyanggaon and then to Khangjung before descending back to Syabrubesi. This was the primary route to Langtang before the new trail (which we followed on our way up) was build.

We should be ready at 6:00 morning in hotel lobby to have your breakfast or ask questions to your trekking guide. We will drive back to Kathmandu through the road passing terraces, streams, rivers, local settlements, high hills along the Trishuli river side. It takes about 7 to 8 hours (conditional) to reach your hotel in Kathmandu by bus/ private 4WD.

This is the final day in Nepal. A chance to do some shopping, explore at leisure or merely relax by the hotel. We enjoy a final night together, reliving the trek and our extraordinary achievements.

We say 'Namaste' for memories that will last a lifetime. There are no activities planned for today and you are able to depart the hotel at any time. Check out time from the hotel is at 12 noon. If you are departing later, you can arrange luggage storage at the hotel. For your final departure, our staff will pick you up from the hotel and transfer to Kathmandu airport approximately 3 hours prior to your international flight time.
